Children of Promise

Our mission is to build resiliency and positive self-esteem among teens in the Pikes Peak Region by creating and enhancing opportunities for education, recreation and social engagement.

Children of Promise is a 501(c)3 charitable, nonprofit organization with a mission of developing resiliency among vulnerable teens. Children of Promise provides high quality, innovative services for disadvantaged and disconnected youth. Through our caring staff and dedicated volunteers, we ensure the social, emotional, and academic development of our youth. We empower youth to be physically, emotionally, and mentally healthy to prepare them for adulthood. To fulfill this mission, Children of Promise recruits local professionals such as physicians, dentists, and optometrists and unites them with our youth in need. These professionals donate their time and talents to help teens who otherwise go without proper care. With the cooperation of local churches and businesses, we have provided high school students with backpacks and school supplies; winter coats and other clothing; sports equipment and recreational opportunities; as well as necessary educational equipment. Some additional achievements include refurbishing and equipping a foster care group home, and renovating a residential treatment facility.

Children of Promise was established with the primary focus of serving individuals who might otherwise fall through the cracks of our educational, social services, and child welfare systems. It is our belief that we can best serve our community by creating or renewing a capacity for hope and resiliency among young people. We have discovered that children who develop resiliency have a greater chance of success in adulthood. Recent theories define resiliency as a capacity for successful adaptation in the face of adverse conditions. Basically, children who can experience as normal a life as possible have a better chance for successful life outcomes. We believe that we can help normalize life for the needy youth in our community.

Children of Promise has seven main programs:

  • Juvenile Educational Enhancement Program (JEEP)
  • Backpacks for Teens
  • Holiday Gift Drive
  • Prom Dress for Less
  • Winter Coats for Teens
  • Medical and Dental
  • Looking Good and Feeling Better
