Decision deadline: Wed. Oct. 24 if possible
Issue: The internet service at the Woodmen campus is highly unreliable. Is is down about 30% of the time. As a result of this both staff, volunteers and tenants have not access to email or the internet. Also, the new HVAC system is controlled via a Web server that cannot be turned on or off unless the internet is up and running.
Facts: 1: The current internet service provider is WaveMax wireless ($70 per month). The wireles signal from them is unreliable. A direct line (wired) would be a better option. 2: DSL is not available to the building, we have checked with multiple carriers 3: A T1 line IS available, but is not cheap...about $400-$500 per month. 4: We currently spend between $400 - $500 per month for the 5 phone and fax lines to the Woodmen campus.
Possible solution: We recently received a bid for T1 service that would include direct line high-speed internet and 5 phone and fax lines for $495 per month, no set-up or installation fee.
This seems like it will solve the problem and may actually save a bit of money as well. Thoughts?
Jack, I am assuming that
Jack, I am assuming that you and Linda have pulled phone bills to double check what we are currently paying. Geoff, do these 5 phone lines include the lines that the ballet currently has or would there be additional costs for phones for them? What about if we need to add additional phone lines into the building? Can we keep the current numbers? Just some questions. I am all for making the service more reliable. Kirsten
Spoke to Jack Penrod today.
