Our Various Groups
The Sunrise Choir is one of Colorado Springs' premier musical organizations, versatile in its ability to perform many different styles. Each year, the choir presents a spectacular Christmas Celebration with either full orchestra or jazz orchestra and a formal Easter presentation on Palm Sunday, serves as a worship-leading choir with orchestra each Sunday. In 2000, the Sunrise Choir presented concerts in both England and Scotland.
The Sunrise Choir number approximately 120 voices. The voices are all volunteer. There are no auditions and church membership is not required. The choir sings and leads worship in both the 9 a.m. and 10:30 am Briargate services each week. Rehearsals are Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 pm.
The Sunrise Orchestra is one of the largest and most recognized church orchestras in the state of Colorado. Members are volunteers, from high school, college and professional careers. The orchestra helps to lead the worship at both the 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Briargate services weekly. Membership in the Sunrise Orchestra is an appointed position and church membership is not required. The orchestra rehearses on Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
The Worship Bands (Eventide, Ascension and 3:16) lead a contemporary style of worship that is rock-driven and powerful, featuring contemporary Christian hits from today's top artists. There are three different worship bands, all three rotate to lead services at the Woodmen campus. The bands rehearse before services. The Colorado Springs Show Choir is made up of local non-professionals who love eing part of an amateur entertainment troup. They prepare and perform two performances: a Christmas package and a Spring package. This appointment organization requires good tonal memory or music reading abilities. It performs secular music and appears for parties, banquets and many senior citizen residences. The show choir rehearses each Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and are off during the months of July and August.
New Dimension is a 16 voice auditioned group of singers who prepare and perform for selected Sunday morning services. The music scope is contemporary, accapella spirituals mostly fun material. It is not a Classical Ensemble. New Dimension is under the direction of Jeanne Stiles and rehearses Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., just prior to Sunrise Choir rehearsals. Church membership is not required.
