Flower Chart Mistake.  I (Roger) updated the flower sign-up chart in

 the Atrium and inadvertently failed to transfer some of the sign-ups

.  I apologize.  If you had signed up for flowers for the next few

 Sundays, please reply to this message with a repeat of the data.  I

 will get the flowers and put the announcement in the bulletin.  Roger

 the UMM Breakfast dates for March and April have been changed due to scheduling conflicts.

  The Breakfast in March will be on Saturday March 1 and the Breakfast in April will be on

 Saturday April 5.

Scout Sunday will be observed on Sunday, March 9 at

the 10:00 Woodmen service and the 10:30 Briargate

service.  

For both locations, all active Scouts and Scouters of

all ages are encouraged to come in uniform to be

recognized.  When I say Scouts and Scouters, I mean to

include both Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs, so if

you are active with the Girl Scouts, or have a Girl

Scout, please join in!

Part of the recognition will include showing a

slideshow of photographs from Scouting events that

have happened in the past year.  If you have .jpg

images from activities that you can send to me, please

do so via e-mail, especially those showing Scouts in

uniform.

As details for both services are finalized, I’ll pass

information along.

Dear Friends,

You know, I often pause in the middle of worship to look out at all of the wonderful people that God has brought to Sunrise.  I look at you and I am humbled and amazed at all that God is doing in you and through you.  Together, we represent the body of Christ.

... and yet sometimes we get scared and we are reluctant to press forward as God calls us.

This weekend we are going to continue our sermon series called No Fear.  You won't want to miss worship as we continue to talk about the role that fear so often plays in our lives.  We'll try to give you some practical tips on overcoming those fears.

Our Children's Choir will be singing at the 10:30 service and you won't want to miss that, either!

I look forward to seeing you this weekend!

We have a special event planned for the Sweetheart Dinner this year (not the same as last year).  Would everyone that can, please email me a wedding picture.  If you have no way to email it, you could bring it by the church and we can scan it here and give it right back to you.  Even if you aren't sure if your going to attend the dinner we still would like to use your photo if you don't mind.  Copies of photos run off on paper don't work very well so we would like to use a regular picture with promises to take good care of it and return it promptly.

Grace Durham is a lady that would like to attend the 9:00 am service at the Briargate Campus but she does not have transportation and can't always get the bus.  She lives at 2710 Vickers Dr. #111 and her phone # is 477-3873.  If you live in her area and would consider giving her a ride, please call and let her know.

Student Ministries

Flyers are now available for our high school and middle school retreats.  Get these flyers at any Student Ministry event or online at http://www.sunrisestudents.org/.  Don't miss out, the deadlines approach quickly.  The retreats are going to be incredible with guest speakers and bands for our high school retreat.

Don't forget about Walkabout our exciting and interactive Christian discussion group for students in grades 6-12 that meets in room 221 every Sunday during the 10:30am service.

Don't forget to purchase your tickets for Johnny Unforgettable our next production by Sunrise Players.  This is a dinner theatre with performances on February 8 & 10.  Tickets can be purchased before and after worship services or on Wednesday's from 4:00-6:00pm in the Student Ministry office.  This production is a fundraiser for youth missions.  Tickets will be on sale through 2/3/08.

2008 is upon us!

And I hope you had a blessed Christmas and a great celebration of the New Year.   All of you certainly made our Christmas and New Years a wonderful time.  Thanks for your good words, your cards and your best wishes.  I am so grateful for the privilege of being your pastor!

Next Wednesday is the beginning of Family Night.  Dinner will be served at both campuses starting at 5:30.  Then at 6:30 there will be the presentation of a special program.  I'll be at Briargate and talking about a recent pilgrimage through Greece and Turkey following in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul.  Hope you can be there! 

This weekend, I'm going to start a new series entitled "No Fear!"  We now live in a world with all kinds of scary things happening.  Places that were once considered safe-even sacred-are no longer.  But Christians have had a long history of dealing with the scary, so we are going to talk about how we live God's life in the midst of the world.  And we are going to start with God.  Should we be afraid of God?  Are we afraid of God?  The Old Testament certainly suggests that the fear of God is a good thing.  Is it?  Come this weekend and find out!

I don't know about you, but without worship, my week is incomplete.  Something is just out of kilter.  It's just not right!  And if I miss that weekend worship, it impacts the whole week.  So get your new year off to a great start.  Start with worship!  See you this weekend!
