3 Important Announcements

 Greetings-

There are three really important things we want to tell you about:

  • First, on May 14 we are having our end of the year BBQ celebration during programs from 6:30-8:00pm.  What we are also doing is throwing a SURPRISE baby shower for Christina and Andy Ziem (baby boy due in August)!  Please consider being part of this great event.  They are going to register at Target, but gift cards are always great.  Also we need volunteers to donate supplies such as decorations, plates, silverware, napkins etc, nothing fancy.  We will have a cake and Burgers and Dogs with the necessary fixings. Christina and Andy are two of our best volunteers and Chirstia was on staff with the student ministry as well.  Please drop by to say hi and support them.  If you can help, make donations, or have questions, please contact Marcus directly at marcus@sunrisestudents.org.
  • Just a reminder that Marcus' last day is May 18.  There is a party on Saturday May 17 at 7pm in the Cafe at the Woodmen Campus.  Marcus will be out of the office May 12-16.
  • Attention Parents and Mission Trip Participants!!

Our next mission team meeting is on Sunday May 4.  We are asking parents to join us for the first part of this meeting!   We will cover the packing list, the itineraries, hand out financial sheets and answer any questions about the mission trips that parents or students might have especially in light of the transition.  This will also give parents an opportunity to meet trip leaders if you have not already done so!  The meeting starts at 2:00pm in the Chapel at the Woodmen Campus on Sunday May 4!

Devotional:

The word Redemption means to turn, and often times we see Redemption as forgiveness but it is much more than that, it is a conscious decision to change and God calls all of us to be redeemed. This is not possible without God, yet it takes our effort. We often see God as kind because he forgives, but in all reality it is God's kindness that causes forgiveness. Take some time to sit with Jesus this week and look to forgiveness and grace. Where do you need to do the work of being redeemed or to turn?

Help Needed-Students:

  • We are in need of students to help with occasional projects around the office after school and during breaks. Please talk to Marcus if interested.
  • We are always looking for more students to be a part of our worship teams, especially guitar and keyboard. If you are interested please contact Lucas using the information above.

Help Needed-Parents:

  • We are always looking for more parents to help out in a variety of ways both with students and behind the scenes. Our current areas of high need are teachers (Walkabout, Bible Study, & Sunday School), phone calls and other office help, more leaders for Wednesday night programs (especially high school) and drivers & chaperones for special events and trips.

Please let Marcus know if you can help in any of these ways.

Devotional:

Easter is the reminder of the resurrection which is all about new life. The new life that Christ's death and resurrection brings us as we are forgiven for our sins. As we celebrate Easter it is not just about remembering the resurrection, but it is also taking time to seek God for new life in our hearts and in the reality of our day to day living and relationships. Where do you think God wants you to experience new life?

2 Announcements!!

Two quick but important announcements that we left out of the newsletter for this week:

 1.  Don't forget that this Sunday is Daylight Savings Time.  Be sure to set your clocks ahead one hour when you go to bed Saturday night so you aren't late for church!  See you Sunday.

2.  Student Ministry programs will be adjusted for Sunday March 23 (Easter Sunday) as follows:

  • There will be no 9:00am Sunday School at the Briargate campus.
  • Walkabout will still meet, but will be shorter than usual and will meet during the 10:00am Easter Service at the Briargate campus.
  • The Student Ministry is leading the Easter Sunrise service at 7:00am at the Woodmen Campus.  This is not a "youth service" but is a sunrise service led by the Student Ministry.  We are going to have a drama, some great worship, a Easter morning devotion and a powerful testimony from one of our students.  Don't miss it!
  • Koinonia will not meet on Easter Sunday.  We will be worshiping together at 10:00am int he Connection Center so that our students can worship with their families on this special holiday.
