The Purple Bracelets Have Arrived!

Do you remember the Purple Bracelets?

I talked about them about a month ago.  In fact, it was the first weekend in March.  The topic was "The Questions of Jesus:  Do You Want to Get Well?"(So if you want to go to the website, you can read it or listen to it again.)

I mentioned a church in Kansas City that is working on making a "complaint-free world."  They are doing it with little purple bracelets. The idea is that when you catch yourself complaining, criticizing or gossiping, you move the bracelet from one wrist to another.  It's as simple as that.  It is just a way of reminding ourselves when we do something, because most of us complain without ever even noticing.  (Research indicates that the average person complains 15-30 times a day and we have some overachievers!) And while complaining seems trivial, its negativity is destructive and it keeps us from doing something that might be really constructive!  People need to practice their new behavior.  It takes about 21 days to create a new habit, so you want to leave the bracelet on one wrist for 21 whole days!  Then you have a new habit.

The Kansas City Church has distributed 4,954,938 bracelets so far!  So they are making a real impact on the complaint level in the world.  And I want to help them.  So outside worship, there will be a basket with purple bracelets in it.  Just drop in a buck and take a bracelet.  You will be on your way to living a complaint-free life!  And I guarantee that you will love it.

Grace and peace,
Marv Vose

P.S.  don't forget about  "Jesus Christ Super Star!"  Tickets are selling great and you don't want to miss it!

P.S.S.  We'll conclude the cliffhanger from last week this weekend!
