 Important Announcement:

As many of you are already aware, Sunday May 18 will be my last day on staff at Sunrise.  After much thought and prayer, I have decided to resign my position as Director of Student Ministries because it is what is best for my family.  Please keep me and my family in your prayers as I am not sure what is next.  If you have any specific questions, please contact me directly.  It has been a honor to work with so many wonderful students, parents, adults, and families during my time at Sunrise!  Thank you.
 Marcus Carlson

Three Biggest Things:

  1. Worship Workshop for all students participating in or interested in participating in worship leadership or media and sound support on April 12.  Worship portion meets 9-12 and tech and media meets from 1-3pm.
  2. The next mission team meeting for student mission trips is Sunday April 13 from 2-4pm in the Chapel.  Please plan ahead and be there.
  3. The following Student events are canceled due to the transition:  the game night 4/18, youth auction, service project on 5/10 and the meetings on 5/21 & 5/28.  All regular programs and other events (including mission trips!) will continue as scheduled.

  • There will be a celebration of Marcus’ ministry after the Saturday night service on Saturday May 17.  Cake and drinks provided, all are welcome to attend.
  • Mission Trip Team Building Weekends are coming up. Vancouver is 4/19, Puerto Rico is 4/25-4/26, and Rapid City is 5/3.  Mission trip participants-don’t forget to plan ahead for these REQUIRED events.
  • Due to the events canceled on March 2 we are adding a mission team meeting on June 1 from 2-4pm.  We will also be extending our last confirmation class on May 4 from 3:30-5:30pm.
  • Don’t miss the end of the year BBQ as a part of our last Wednesday night program for the summer on May 14!

Help Needed-Students:

  • We are in need of students to help with occasional projects around the office after school and during breaks. Please talk to Marcus if interested.
  • We are always looking for more students to be a part of our worship teams, especially guitar and keyboard. If you are interested please contact Lucas using the information above.

Help Needed-Parents:

  • We are always looking for more parents to help out in a variety of ways both with students and behind the scenes. Our current areas of high need are teachers (Walkabout, Bible Study, & Sunday School), phone calls and other office help, more leaders for Wednesday night programs (especially high school) and drivers & chaperones for special events and trips.
  • We need more teachers for Walkabout and Saturday Night Bible study. Curriculum provided and teaching commitment is only once a month!

Please let Marcus know if you can help in any of these ways.

Devotional:

True belief, particularly belief in Jesus is not just an intellectual decision.  It is also about your heart and understanding a need.  It is about your will and your decisions to make Christ the center of your life.  This week, go to Jesus in prayer and evaluate your belief.
