Senior Adult Ministries

Contact: Teri Alcorn

Sunrise is blessed with a vital, active and growing Senior Adult Ministry. Our seniors are people with a wealth of knowledge, accumulated talents and experiences and who are eager to share. Sunrise’s Senior Adult pro-grams provide Christian fellowship in our church family. All programs give the opportunity to each individual to grow to become Christ-like!

Our Senior Adult Ministry is BY, WITH, and FOR older adults. The senior adults at Sunrise are a very important part of the life of our church. They are in the mainstream of our church life. They are involved in such activi-ties as class members, learning and teaching about Christ, socializing together in a Christ filled atmosphere volunteering in various capacities, leadership roles and church ministry teams (and the list goes on).
Some of the current activities are:

Senior Bible Study meets in room 218 on Sunday mornings at 9:00-10:00 led by Jim Gaba. The class is currently using the Shepherds Life Series of books which offers a study guide for each book of the Bible and currently they are studying the book of Job.

Briargate Bible Study meets twice monthly, 1st and 3rd Tuesdays 10:00-11:30 AM in room 223 at Briargate. Members take turns facilitating the discussion of the Bible topic, utilizing selected books (currently Twelve Or-dinary Men) and the Bible. This Bible Study Group was originally started by Betty Morris as the ―Neighborhood Bible Study and they met in different homes each time. Please contact Verne Simson at 599-3639 for information concerning this class.

SAGES (Sunrise Association of Genial Elders) meets monthly for social events. It’s something new every month. Some activities have included picnics, theatre trips, lunches at area restaurants, a trip to the melodrama at Cripple Creek and luncheon programs meeting at Sunrise. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and make friends and to minister to one an-other. Please contact Jack and Phyllis Richards at 598-3602 or Vern and Mary Simson at 598-3602 for further information and watch the bulletin and Communicator for information on the monthly activities.

There are many additional opportunities for seniors to become involved: Life Groups, Biblical Studies, Book Studies, Support Groups, Fellowship/Ministry Groups and Affinity Groups We encourage everyone to volunteer to use their time, talents and gifts to meet the needs of others and to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
