Our Philosophy

Our hope is that Sunrise Student Ministries is not just a ministry for students, but for parents and families as well. Our hope is to care for parents and the whole family through our ministry to students and by making intentional efforts to care for parents. We do not believe that the Student Ministry is a supplement for parents, rather we hope to serve as a compliment to the God given role parents have in their students lives. If there is anything we can we can do to aid parents of our students, please let us know.

Programs and Opportunities for Parents

It is the hope of Sunrise Student Ministries to provide programs and other opportunities for parents of our students. These programs for parents will be developed over time, with one new opportunity or program added each year.

Current Programs and Opportunities:

  • Open Parents Meetings-The Student Ministry will hold open information meetings for parents of students twice a year. The purpose of these meetings are to give parents information on Student Ministry programs and events as well as provide a forum for parents to ask questions that they might have.
  • Parents of Teens Group-Meets Wedneday Nights during Student Ministry Programs at the Woodmen Campus. Contact the church office (598-7013) for more information.
  • Resources for Parents-We will never tell you how to parent your students, but we do want to be available for parents to provide resources for parents to help them understand youth culture and to equip their students to deal with any issue or problems that they might have. Feel free to contact Marcus anytime to make use of our resources or with any questions, concerns, or celebrations you might have.

Future Programs and Opportunities:

  • Parents Seminars-We hope to bring in outside speakers for special seminars once a year for parents.
  • Parents Appreciation Week and Dinner-We will implement a special week once a year for parents to show our appreciation for all they do in the lives of their students. This will include inviting parents to Student Ministry events and special programs including a possible appreciation dinner for parents.
  • Other Programs-Each year as we add a new program for parents we hope to expand to include special events for parents and students including trips, retreats, and service projects.

Getting Involved

There are many ways for parents to get involved with Sunrise Student Ministries both in direct work with students and behind the scenes work. We believe that anyone who feels called can use their gifts in our ministry. We also desire to have parents involved in our ministry to give our students as many role models as possible, including other parents. Please check out our volunteer page or contact Marcus for more information on how to get involved.
